Before you drive out
- Cell service is patchy. Download your directions before you leave the highway.
- Check in at Headquarters. Every visitor checks in on arrival — no exceptions, for everyone's safety.
- The camp is rustic. Expect gravel, dirt, pine needles and weather.
What to bring
A general packing list. Each program posts its own specific list — always check the program page and its documents first.
Always
- Current BSA health and medical record
- Field uniform and activity uniform
- Sleeping bag and ground pad
- Refillable water bottle
- Rain gear — East Texas earns its greenery
- Closed-toe shoes, plus a second pair
- Insect repellent and sunscreen
- Flashlight or headlamp
- Personal first aid kit
For aquatics
- Swimsuit and towel
- Water shoes for the lake
- Swim check completed, or plan to do it on arrival
Leave at home
- Sheath knives
- Personal firearms and ammunition
- Fireworks
- Anything you would be upset to lose
